Back in 2013, we were still working out of a garage in Aurora, running jobs for another outfit that shall remain nameless. One Tuesday in February, we got sent to a ranch house in Park Hill where an elderly woman had paid for a “whole home” cleaning she’d found in a Valpak. She showed us the coupon: $79. She showed us the invoice she’d already paid: $340. And she showed us the register in her living room, where a shop vac hose had been stuffed six inches in and run for twenty minutes while the technician sat in his van.
We opened the basement access panel with her watching. The main trunk line was packed with gray fuzz and construction debris from a 2004 renovation. Nothing had been touched. She asked us, quietly, whether she’d been lied to. We didn’t have a good answer.

If we weren’t doing this, we’d probably be fixing old motorcycles or restoring furniture. Something with pieces that fit together and a result you can see. The satisfaction is the same.
